We offer a range of classes to suit you and your canine best friend.
All classes are fully insured and taken by a qualified instructor.
We are based at the Priory Country Park, Barkers Lane, Bedford, enabling you and your Canine best friend the chance to train and learn in a real life environment.

For Puppies who are between 12-20 weeks old at the start of the course. Fun, informative and stimulating for owners and puppies.

Beginner Agility

Agility is a great Canine sport. It builds on canine life skills, improves fitness and can help develop a bond between you and your Canine Buddy.

Beginner Agility for dogs over 12 months

Week 1
Assess basic skills – Choice of reward / reward criteria.
Sit, down on command (on lead).
Reaction to other dogs.
Recall on and off lead.
Foundation Skills -Heel work on lead, circles on lead. Drive focus.
Introduce  jumps recalls on lead.
Week 2
Play with dog, into heel work on lead, circles on lead. (Tuggy)
Foundation Jumping & Handling
Straight line jumping sequence
Poles on floor with jump wings either side.
Practise recall, over 1 jump building up to 3 jumps.
Introduce left & right hand turns.
Week 3
Play with dog, into heel work on lead, circles on lead, one jump exercise.
Left & right hand pivot turns.
Intro to Contact Training
Introduce 2+2 contact training on dog walk plank.
Practise recalls & send aways.
Week 4
Play with dog, into heel work on lead, circles on lead, 3 jump exercises.
Develop Contact Training
– 2+2 contact training on dog walk plank.
Introduce rigid tunnel- Combine with jumping sequence.
Week 5
4 jump exercise & tunnel as warm up.
2+2 position & release to target
Introduce weaves:

Foundation Agility

Week 1
Assess basic skills – Choice of reward / reward criteria.

Using play and reward to teach new behaviours-  Fun Games
Week 2-6
The Foundation Agility classes will involve lots of fun activities each week which aim to get you and your Pup working happily together.  They will help build up body awareness, co-ordination, drive and control in both you and your Pup.
We will cover the following in the classes:
1.        Use play & reward to teach ‘new behaviours’
2.      Motivation and drive games.
3.      Directional commands
4.     Following body movement (shadow handling)
5.      Teaching a ‘target behaviour’ for future contact training
6.     How to teach a ‘happy wait’
7.      Foot placement, working on ground poles (body awareness)
8.      Confidence on different surfaces
9.     Impulse control (working around other dogs)
10.  Forward focus
11.     Co-ordination and balance
12.   Basic handling techniques
13.   Tunnel games
14.   Flat work
15.   Lots and lots of play.

Please note that due to the development of dog’s bones and growth plates, this course does not include teaching full weaves or using any of the full height contact equipment.  The activities and games are all low impact, but they will give your Pup a good grounding in many skills required in Agility.

Caninercise

Fun fitness classes, suitable for all dogs and handlers. Designed to strengthen confidence, focus, body awareness and key muscle groups and improve cardio fitness in you and your Canine workout Buddy.
Suitable for dogs over 5 months-but young pups under 12 months will have adapted exercises.
Week 1
Assess basic skills – Choice of reward / reward criteria.
Sit, down on command (on lead).
Reaction to other dogs.
 
Caninercise Classes are for all levels of fitness and all dogs over 5 months are welcome.
Classes will take the form of different circuits, with fun activity stations which are designed to work both you and your Canine Buddy in  5 areas of fitness:
1.        Cardio-respiratory Fitness – Heart and lungs
2.      Resistance Training – Muscles, Endurance
3.      Flexibility – Range of movement
4.     Balance – Body control/awareness
5.      Core Strength and Stability – Extending/flexing and rotating the trunk.
You will be encouraged to work with your dog as a team at your own level of fitness.
Not only does this help you form a stronger bond with your pet, it also stimulates your dog physically and mentally, thereby reducing behavioural problems.

Always check with your dog’s vet before you embark on a new fitness regime to make sure there are no underlying health issues that could affect your pet.  Like humans, dogs need to build up their fitness gradually.
